We face decisions every day. Big and small.
A decision to brush our teeth or to have stinky breath.
A decision to go to work and be pleasant throughout the day or be miserable.
A decision to have a cup of coffee or to suffer....:)
But some decisions can be big.
Decisions to go to university or to get a job right out of high school.
Decisions to get married or to stay single.
Decisions to have a cup of coffee in the morning, or to suffer....... :).
Regardless of our current life experience, everyone makes decisions that affect their lives on a daily basis. In the sermon on the mount, Jesus talks about the power of decisions and the impact they have on who a person becomes. He helps us reflect and ask the questions about "what we do", but then also "why we do it". Jesus helps us explore this issue of obedience to God, not out of obligation or fear but out of a transformed heart that desires deeply to honor God.
