Outdoor Service with BBQ
Join us on the lawn this Sunday for another outdoor service—complete with hot dogs. This is a perfect Sunday to bring along a friend who doesn’t usually attend church. Our group will be a little smaller, since some of us will be away at Sleeping Giant for the weekend, which makes it an even better opportunity to invite someone new. And don’t miss it—this may be our last BBQ before we move indoors for the season. |

Volunteers NeededKid's Ministry Believe it or not, the fall season is almost here which means our kid's ministry will be back in action soon! This Sunday, Lauren will be sharing her heart for kids’ ministry and inviting volunteers to get involved starting in early September. After the outdoor service, she’ll be at a table with cookies—so while you enjoy your hot dog, stop by for a chat with Lauren to learn about the needs and discover how you can participate. |

Men's Breakfast & Work PartyAugust 23 Join us for a Men’s Breakfast and Work Party on Saturday, August 23rd. We'll kick things off with a delicious breakfast, testimony, and devotional word, then tackle some much-needed maintenance projects around the church. Some tasks will be small but important—others could include: Fixing a leak in the basement wall Installing a new window Painting exterior windows Repairing doors Replacing leaking eavestroughs After breakfast, some volunteers will stay to work at the church, while others will head out to help one of the widows in our congregation. If you’re planning to come, please reply to this email with ‘I’m coming’ so we can prepare the right amount of food and organize the work accordingly. |
Be A BereanSamuel - The Boy Prophet Some say that the prophet and judge Samuel was one of Israel’s most effective leaders. Does it surprise you to learn that he started serving God at a very young age? Samuel lived during a time when Israel’s spiritual and political climate was unstable. If you feel that our own nation’s situation today—politically and spiritually—is uncertain, then Samuel’s story may really resonate with you. I encourage you to read 1 Samuel 3. If you’re feeling ambitious, read chapters 1–7, and for the high achievers, go for chapters 1-12. As you read, ask yourself: Amidst the chaos of his time, how did Samuel live as a leader of integrity? (See especially chapter 12 for his farewell speech) What shaped him as a young boy and as a young adult? How does God’s interaction with Samuel as a boy change the way you see your own kids—or even your own childhood? Could it be that God wants us to notice something about how He works in the lives of the young? With love, Jeremy
