Did you know the early church struggled with racism? One of the issues that threatened to divide the Church in Acts revolved around the question of whether Gentiles (non-Jews) could become Jesus followers.
Today racism is a hot topic. Race and ethnicity are buzz words. I would guess most of us wouldn't be able to explain the difference between the two if we were asked.
Jesus prayed that all of His followers would experience the same kind of unity He experiences with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Do you think it's possible for an ethnically/racially diverse group of people to experience that kind of unity? Jesus prayed that we would, so, we can be sure that we will!
This Sunday we are going to talk about what it looks like to be ethnically diverse and united as one.
Spend time this weekend reading Acts 15, Acts 17:16-34, and Galatians 2:11-21.
Join me in praying that we will be a church where Jesus' prayer from John 17 is answered and experienced in our midst.
