Daniel 6

I typically plan out our sermon series a year ahead of time. So I am surprised when I get to a sermon topic and it is a perfect fit for what is going on in the world at the time. I should not be surprised though, because it has happened many times! It is an encouraging reminder that God is the one who is truly leading us.

This week we are going to take an in-depth look at Daniel 6. It's a story about a time in Babylon when praying to anyone other than the king was illegal. At the time Daniel was one of the most powerful people in Babylon, and he was also a Jew who prayed to the one true God, Yahweh. He had a choice to make, he could discontinue his lifelong habit of praying to God three times a day, or he could continue praying and face the consequences.

Likely you know the story, and you know what Daniel chose to do. But you may not be aware that Daniel practiced his civil disobedience in a way that has a lot to teach us about what that might look like today in Canada in 2022. My prayer is that God will speak and encourage us through His word this weekend.
