Dear Transformation Church family,

By now everyone is aware of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). First and foremost, I want to encourage you to not be afraid. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, of love and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We have an opportunity to be an example to those around us of what it looks like to trust God in the midst of uncertainty. Our hope is in Him!

Having said that, we do need to practice wisdom and good judgement. As you know many organizations have shut down for the time being. There are some states in the U.S. and provinces in Canada that are restricting the gathering of groups of people of more than 250. This has not yet happened in Ontario.

We are still planning to meet as usual this coming Sunday. We are excited to gather and worship God together, and to spend time praying about what is going on around the world. We have not seen a virus have this big an impact on the world in recent history. I realize this can be alarming and quite unnerving, but I want to encourage you to trust in God. He loves you!

This Sunday things will be a little different:

  • We are going to greet each other with a smile rather than a handshake.
  • We will not be serving food or coffee

What you can be doing:

  • Pray with us -For the sick, for our health care workers, for our government.
  • Use wisdom -Stay home if you are sick and not attend church (and other) activities until symptom-free and fever-free for at least 24 hours.
  • Use discretion - If you have high-risk health conditions, use discretion in attending large gatherings. Avoid visiting people in hospitals or long-term care centers if you are sick.
  • Be informed - Find the facts over hype and hysteria, updates can be found at Health Canada Ontario Health
  • Practice Good Hygiene - Wash your hands often with soap and water or use hand sanitizer. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth unless you have just washed your hands with soap. Cover your cough and sneeze with a tissue or into your arm, not your hand

If public gatherings are restricted in Ontario we will look into live-streaming a worship service, but we will cross that bridge when we come to it.

In the mean-time look for ways to bless those around you, pray for your friends and neighbors. My prayer as a church is that we would see this from God’s perspective rather than from ours.

May the peace of Christ reign in your heart as you trust Him!
