We will dive into Scripture to discover who God is, what He is like, and what it means to be in a relationship with Him.
Frederick W. Faber, a hymn writer and theologian, described God as "Darkness to the intellect, but sunshine to the heart." On the one hand, God is beyond our ability to understand. But, thankfully, He has revealed Himself to us in the person of Jesus Christ and through the Holy Scriptures. We learn about this incomprehensible God through His actions with humankind, which are recorded in the Scriptures.
Over the following weeks, we will dive into God's triunity, goodness, mercy, justice, grace, sovereignty, holiness and other attributes. To know God is to worship Him. In our worship of Him, we become more like Him as He fills us with His Holy Spirit.
I'm excited to dive into this series together. My prayer for our church is twofold. First, that we will have a transformative encounter with the Holy, living God as we learn about Who He is together. And second, that His transformation of us will have a transforming impact on our neighbourhood, city, province, country and the world.
