1 Samuel 30
David in Ziklag

While in Ziklag, David found himself in extreme circumstances, facing the loss of everything he owned, including his entire family. On top of that, he faced the opposition of his only friends and fellow soldiers. He was already living in exile away from his home country because the king back home was trying to kill him, so he was forced to flee for his life and was now living among enemies. Now his world is collapsing around him.

What do David's friends do when they face these extreme times? Where do they turn? What is their reaction? And what is David's reaction to this tremendous disaster in his life and loss and grief? What is your reaction when faced with loss? What is your reaction when your friends oppose you?  What did David do in the midst of this loss when the necessary action would have seemed obvious? How did David deal with the ungodly and selfish reactions of his friends?

Read 1st Samuel 30 as you ponder these questions, and join us on Sunday as we dig into how David was able to live above catastrophic circumstances.
