In this section of John's Gospel Jesus spends a lot of time talking to His disciples about what life will be like after He (Jesus) goes to be with the Father. This is Jesus' final conversation with His followers after having spent three years with them.
Jesus does not mince His words here in these chapters. He wants His followers to know who He is, and what He expects of them after He is gone. Jesus lays a foundation for what He wants His church to look like, how He wants them to behave, and what their mission will be. He does not mince His words.
