The Persecuted Church

I'm very much looking forward to our time together this Sunday at 11 am. We have a  special service planned where we are going to focus on places in the world where it is illegal, or very difficult to be a Jesus follower. There are multiple people who are going to participate and will be sharing stories this Sunday. One young lady will be talking about how her family escaped from a hostile country and has experienced Christian community from a unique perspective.

Last week we talked about civil disobedience with Daniel as our example (Daniel 3 & 6). As a church, we always try to emphasize the fact that we do not study Scripture just to learn history, but rather so that we can learn more about what God is like, who He is, and how He wants for us to live in response. That is why we did not simply want to talk about civil disobedience from a theoretical perspective, there are millions of Christians alive today who live these truths out in their everyday lives (see above map). This Sunday will be encouraging, and we are also going to take some time to pray for Christians who live in hostile environments.
