What now?
Hey TC Family, Last Sunday was a big day! If you missed last Sunday but want to hear the story about how the Lord has led our family to make the decision to move back to the East Coast, click the link at the bottom of this email. Making that announcement was not easy, but it was preceded by a lot of thought, prayer and conversation. Vicky and I have an increasing sense of peace. However, there is also sadness; we deeply love Thunder Bay and our church family. We are hopeful about how the Lord will lead TC in the days ahead. God is good! We are not moving until July. My last Sunday as pastor of TC will be Sunday, July 7. I am grateful to have a few more months here in Thunder Bay. This will also give us time as a leadership team to develop a plan for next steps. Volleyball Terry Howard and others from TC play volleyball every week in Lappe and are looking for more eager players! Who? TC people 14 years old and up. (an adult must accompany those under 18) When? Wednesday, April 24, 6:30-8:30 PM. (doors will lock at 6:45) Bring? Clean indoor runners and a good sense of humour. Outdoor footwear is not allowed in the gym. No food allowed, only water. If you want to join, text (preferred) or call Terry Howard at 807 476 4715 for the address. Annual church business meeting/Question & Answer time On Sunday, May 5, after the Sunday service, we will gather for our annual business meeting and for a time of question and answer regarding next steps for TC. Everyone is welcome at this meeting and can participate in the question and answer time. We will also be voting on two things: 1. The new budget for our fiscal year (May 2024-April 2025) 2. One new board member. Again, anyone is welcome to be present during this time, but only members can cast a vote. |
Our love for each other should make the world scratch their heads!
John 17 is Jesus' final prayer with His followers before going to the cross. There are three sections of this prayer. In the third and final section, Jesus prays for everyone who will one day believe in Him as a result of the ministry of His first followers. That is you and me today here in Thunder Bay! There are some profound prayer requests in Jesus' prayer. This weekend, we will take a deep dive into the third section of this prayer, where Jesus asks the Father to give us His glory so that we can experience the same unity that the Father experiences with the Son. Jesus is asking for something humanly impossible. There are so many people, fellow Jesus followers, who are seemingly impossible to love, and Jesus asks that we love each other the way the Father loves the Son. Jesus says that this love actually proves to the world that He is from God and that God loves the world. Wow! In light of my announcement last week, I can't wait to dive into Jesus' powerful prayer for our church. This message is so fitting as a follow-up to last week's announcement. As your pastor, leader, friend, fellow Jesus follower, these are words I want to leave with you as I move on and as you link arms with each other for the future of our church and city. This weekend take some time to prayerfully read through John 17. Let's lean in together and pray Jesus' prayer along with Him! Pastor Nathan |
