Hey TC Family,

This coming Sunday night is the prayer night we have been talking about for the last couple of weeks. Join us inside the TC building at 7 PM as we join in the cross-Canada prayer initiative. This will be a great night of prayer and seeking to hear God's voice. 

Renovations

Jenny has been working hard these past few weeks on our children's area downstairs. We are excited to re-launch our children's ministry in September with what will feel like a brand-new children's area! 

Tomorrow (Saturday, July 22), a new floor is being installed in the cafe area. We are looking forward to opening our cafe back up in the fall so we can enjoy coffee and conversation after our Sunday gatherings. 

Maskery Travel

Our family will be travelling to New Brunswick for the month of August. We are here this Sunday and then on July 30. After July 30, we are going to make the long trek to NB to visit with family. Our outdoor services will continue for the month of August. We have four great services all lined up, including two BBQs. Randy Coates, Jeremy Darrow, Kaija Skalesky and Teen Challenge will be preaching while I am away. I am excited about what God is up to, and I look forward to hearing about what He continues to do in our community while I am away.

This is a long drive with a van full; keep us in prayer! 

Last week we discussed the scandal involving King David, Bathsheba and Uriah. 

After David was caught and confronted about his sin, he admitted he was wrong and sought God for forgiveness. God forgave him, but God also made it very clear that his actions would have severe consequences. And boy, were the consequences severe!! 

Read 2 Samuel 13-16. This section of Scripture is filled with drama, scheming, terrible parenting, scandal, rape, murder, treason, and betrayal. It is a lot to take in! 

On Sunday, I am going to zero in on the story about David and Shimei, as told in 16:5-14. As David flees Jerusalem due to a coup led by one of his sons, Shimei throws stones at him while spewing curses at him. One of David's most loyal warriors asks for permission to remove Shimei's head. David says no. David said no because he figured God rebuked him through Shimei's words. David knew he messed up. David knew he had failed. David refuses to defend himself. 

I want us to wrestle with the question of how we respond to criticism from others. How do we respond when people point out our flaws and failures? As you read this section of Scripture, what do you learn about God's character? Can you relate to anyone in the story? Is God speaking to you about anything in your own life? 

I can't wait to dive into this together on Sunday!
